It’s rare nowadays to find a family as kind, as generous, and as caring as the Crooks. This isn’t a business-oriented wedding venue; they treated us like family from the first moment we spoke with them. Of course everyone knows their wedding day is the best day ever, but ours truly went without a hitch. Our friends and family were completely awestruck by the venue itself, not to mention how impressed they were with the housing on property. There was a buzz throughout the whole weekend about this place being the best wedding venue anyone has ever been to. We are forever grateful and full of love for this land and this family. Without a doubt, we will be returning year after year to celebrate the best weekend of our lives. Thank you to the Crook family and for your kindness, friendship, and help to make this a stress-free and unforgettable party. We literally cannot speak highly enough of our experiences here.

Bryan and I were married at Crook Point on November 3rd and we along with family had 3 houses at Burnt Hill. The entire weekend was absolutely amazing, the houses had everything we could possibly need and more. The views from the houses were absolutely beautiful💞 Crook Point absolutely was the place for my PERFECT wedding.

This is by far the most amazing getaway I’ve been too!! My wedding was the most memorable and fabulous day of my entire life.

Our Story

Crook Point has been a family affair for over 150 years. Our ancestors immigrated from Ireland and Northern Europe eventually traveling west on the Oregon Trail finally arriving in Smith River, California in 1852. In 1867, they made their way back to Oregon and established a sheep and cattle ranch known today as Crook Point. A working ranch still operates on the property on roughly 3,000 acres.

Some 25 years ago, our family decided to share this land that we love and established our vacation rentals on what we believe is the most magnificent coast in the western United States. In 2018, we formally added our wedding venues as a unique service offering at Crook Point. It has been our pleasure to host visitors from all over the world at this unique and very private destination.

We are so very proud of the heritage of our Pacific Coast pioneer family and honored beyond measure to carry on their legacy.

Ready for an adventure?  Let’s go!

Kathleen Crook-O'Donnell

Kathleen grew up at Crook Point on the family ranch, spending her childhood climbing trees and running around the Arch Rock Main Lawn next to her grandmother’s home. She followed her passion in 2017 and formally started the wedding business where she enjoys helping couples create magical & unforgettable celebrations with Crook Point as their backdrop. Kathleen handles all aspects of weddings, events and vacation lodging, from the initial inquiry to post-event follow up and all from San Francisco, where she lives with her husband and three young children. Kathleen is a UC Berkeley alumni with a BA in Psychology.

He built up the business with his late wife, Melody, curating, remodeling and expanding on the vacation home hospitality business all while building a successful contracting business. As a General Contractor, James can accomplish, build and fix just about anything imaginable and you may come across him when he is working on an infrastructure project, addressing an issue onsite or assessing our family’s master plan for the property.
